Wellness Exams in Nashville, TN
A wellness exam is the most useful hour you will spend on your pet's health each year. One of our doctors examines your dog or cat from nose to tail, we talk through diet, exercise, behavior, and anything you have noticed at home, and we set a baseline so that if your pet ever gets sick we know what normal looks like.
What to expect
We start with a conversation. Our staff will ask how your pet is eating, drinking, sleeping, and moving, and whether anything has changed. Then the doctor does a full physical: eyes, ears, teeth, heart, lungs, abdomen, skin, joints, and weight. If something needs a closer look, we can run bloodwork and X-rays here the same day.
Weight is a big part of every exam. It is far easier to start a diet when a pet is one pound over than fifteen, so we track it visit to visit and will tell you plainly when it is time to adjust.
For dogs and cats over seven, we recommend a senior exam every six months with a blood panel. Kidney, thyroid, and liver changes show up in the lab work long before they show up at home.

How often does my pet need a wellness exam?
Once a year for healthy adult dogs and cats. Every six months for seniors over seven and for pets with an ongoing condition. Puppies and kittens come in every three to four weeks until their vaccine series is complete.
What should I bring?
Any records from a previous vet, a list of medications and supplements, and a fresh stool sample if you can. If your cat rides better in a carrier with a towel over it, do that.
